Campaign evaluation

The cleanyourhands campaign have designed evaluation methods which look at both the campaign design and implementation in all care settings as well as monitors the efficacy of the campaign in encouraging staff hand hygiene compliance and reducing the spread of healthcare associated infection.

The campaign in acute trusts is being independently evaluated via the National Observational Study of the effectiveness of the cleanyourhands campaign

(NOSEC), which is funded by the Department of Health in England.

The NOSEC study is a four-year (July 2004-June 2008) multidisciplinary study to provide an independent assessment of the campaign to determine whether it is successful and sustainable over time. The study looks at the effectiveness of the campaign and implementation of its components in NHS hospitals.
